A Belated Celebration of Beethoven's 250th Birthday, Immortal Belated to be held March 24th

Many celebrations of Beethoven's 250th birthday (December 2020) were canceled during the pandemic. A year later we celebrate the fire and passion of this master composer with some of his best-loved choral-orchestral works on March 24th, 2022, 7:30 PM, at the Griffin Auditorium. Featuring the Carroll Symphony Orchestra and concert pianist Terry Lowry, Griffin Choral Arts presents Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, Hallelujah from The Mount of Olives, and the Egmont Overture. The program also includes A Silence Haunts Me by Jake Runestad, a dramatic choral work based on Beethoven's Heiligenstadt Testament - a letter he wrote expressing the despair caused by his hearing loss. Tickets are available for purchase online here.

This program is co-sponsored by the Griffin Area Concert Association.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

The Carroll Symphony Orchestra enriches the lives of children and adults in our community by cultivating deep listening and sustained engagement with the living symphonic tradition—connecting music of the past with the creation of new work today.

Our seasons present a continuing exploration of the living symphonic tradition, connecting masterworks of the past with the creation of new music in the present. We return to major works often to allow both musicians and audiences to refine their understanding and find new meaning in extended musical forms. Our long-term artistic vision is to cultivate performances of increasing clarity, balance, and expressive integrity. In concert halls and through recordings, we seek to create experiences that help our community engage more profoundly with their own emotional and intellectual lives.
