ARTISTIC STATEMENT
The Carroll Symphony Orchestra enriches the lives of children and adults in our community by cultivating deep listening and sustained engagement with the living symphonic tradition—connecting music of the past with the creation of new work today.
The CSO believes that great orchestral music invites deep listening and sustained engagement rather than passive consumption. We program with the conviction that audiences—children and adults alike—are capable of following complex musical thought when given the opportunity to encounter it repeatedly and in meaningful context. Our seasons are shaped not as isolated events, but as part of a continuing exploration of the living symphonic tradition, connecting masterworks of the past with the creation of new music in the present. We believe that returning to major works over time allows both musicians and audiences to refine their understanding and deepen their experience of extended musical forms. Through careful rehearsal culture and long-term artistic vision, we strive to cultivate performances of increasing clarity, balance, and expressive integrity. In concert halls and through recordings, we seek to create experiences that help individuals and communities engage more deeply with their own emotional and intellectual lives.
